Watercooled LEDs at Dutch lettuce grower:
Boer & Den Hoedt switch to 100% LED
Last week the last part of the greenhouses of Dutch lettuce growers Boer & Den Hoedt switched to LED, making the lettuce grower completely LED lighted. Boer & Den Hoedt again chose Lemnis Oreon as supplier of the LED fixtures and PB Technologies in Maasdijk, its fixed fitter for the installation.
Boer & Den Hoedt started growing lettuce under LEDs in 2009. On the first 5000m2 the first version of Lemnis Oreon LED fixtures was used. In 2013 the next 9000m² were provided with Lemnis Oreon’s Grow Light 2.0 and now the existing Son-T lamps in the last part of the greenhouse were also replaced by the latest Lemnis Oreon LED fixtures: the Grow Light 1.2 (600W).
The Grow Light 2.1 is a waterproof fitting that delivers more micromole per joule than the previous Son-T lamps. By actively cooling the lamp with water, directly dissipating the heat, the fitting is very compact, more light is emitted per fixture, and it is more durable than comparable fixtures from competitors and provides little shade when the sun shines.
In the photo the installation in 2015 can be seen at the front and the 2009 installation with small 100W fixtures in the background.
