Greece: Weather favours development of thrips on greenhouse cucumbers

The weather conditions in Greece are currently favourable for the appearance of mildew and thrips in cucumber greenhouse crops, as reported by the agronomists of the Regional Centre for Plant Protection and Quality Control of Magnesia.

For the treatment of downy mildew, experts recommend the removal of the plants infected with downy leaves, spraying the plants once symptoms appear and repeating the process after 8 days.

Regarding the thrips, organic growers are advised to place predatory insects, while conventional producers are recommended to spray with suitable authorised plant protection products.
