Rijk Zwaan South Africa starts sales activities

Earlier this week, Rijk Zwaan South Africa took over the sales activities of the former Rijk Zwaan distributors Javelin Seeds and Filmflex Plastics. Through the establishment of this new subsidiary, Rijk Zwaan expects to be able to respond better to the South African vegetable industry.

In recent months, the final preparations for the establishment of Rijk Zwaan South Africa were completed successfully. The management team consists of Jannie Fourie - from Javelin Seeds – for commercial affairs and Helena Minnie who is responsible for financial matters. The sales staff of Javelin Seeds came over with their valuable background, and some newly hired employees complete the team. Rijk Zwaan South Africa is located in the former office of Javelin Seeds in Johannesburg.

Experienced and motivated
"We have a highly experienced and motivated group of colleagues, with crop advisors for all major growing regions and a good capacity for product development," says Jannie Fourie. "We look forward to combining our local knowledge with the international network and the stable base and structure of Rijk Zwaan. By developing new products and sharing knowledge about cultivation and distribution, we seek to realize our ambition to bring South African horticulture to a higher level."

Personal approach
Family company Rijk Zwaan is known worldwide for its high level of service and personal approach. Through distributors, the company has been active in South Africa for 20 years, and has become a leader in cucumbers and leafy vegetables. The company also has a strong position in a number of other crops, including pepper, tomato and melon. It is expected that the establishment of Rijk Zwaan South Africa will give a positive impetus to the range in the country.
