UK: Stockbridge Technology Centre launches new crop protection programme

A new crop protection programme for horticulture has been launched at Stockbridge Technology Centre. The STC Participation Trial Centre provides an opportunity for plant protection products to be tested to ORETO standards by an independent horticultural research centre on a confidential basis. According to Dr Martin McPherson (STC Science Director) “This approach can be beneficial for both smaller and larger companies with limited horticultural R&D budgets, as they can commission a small number of ‘slots’ to evaluate products (both conventional and biological) without the financial commitment that commissioning a full trial requires.”

Plant Pathology Project Manager Kirsty Wright will manage the Participation Trial Centre, testing products in 2015 for activity against pests, pathogens and weeds e.g. cavity spot in carrots. If manufacturers are interested in including their products in trials they should contact Kirsty in the first instance: Kirsty.wright@stc-nyorks.co.uk.
