Germany: 20 percent of growers wants to invest in greenhouses

Nearly 20% of the German greenhouse growers want to expand their greenhouses. Most want to renew the existing resources

18.2% of German greenhouse growers are planning a relevant investment in their greenhouses.Juts like last year, most growers are still looking at a renewal of the existing Greenhouses.

This information is a result of the "greenhouse Scanner" that insurance company AgriDirect conducted in March this year. About 500 German glasshouse growers were interviewed during this survey about their future and investment plans.

Renewal more popular than new construction


Compared with the year 2014, the plans among growers to built new greenhouses are virtually stable (4.6%). The percentage of retrofitting has increased: last year 8 percent of the GErman greenhouse growers wanted to renovate the existing greenhouses 8.0%, in this year it are 13.6%.

German glasshouse growers intend to invest more than their Dutch colleagues.
In the Netherlands only 4.3% of the growers wants to invest. Only 2.5% of the growers have plans to built new structures and 1.8% want to renew the existing operations.
