US: Louisiana nursery, landscape conference set for Dec. 3 in Baton Rouge

A plant materials conference for Louisiana nursery, landscape and garden center professionals has been set for Dec. 5 at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden in Baton Rouge.

Presented by the LSU AgCenter and Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association, the program will feature a variety of presentations by LSU AgCenter experts and industry professionals, according to LSU AgCenter horticulturist Allen Owings.

The program will include a review of new plants for 2015 from Robert “Buddy” Lee with PDSI in Loxley, Alabama; Michele Andre with Ball Horticulture in Jefferson, Louisiana, and Jack O’Donnell with Bailey Nurseries in St. Paul, Minnesota. LSU AgCenter horticulturist Dan Gill will present information on Louisiana Super Plants for 2015, and Owings will report on the California spring trials.

Louisiana licensed landscape architects will receive four CEUs for attending the entire program.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the conference will conclude at 2 p.m. Registration is $30 per person, and attendance is limited to the first 70 individuals with paid registrations by Nov. 24.

More information and registration forms are available from Owings at 985-543-4125, 225-603-8096 (cellphone) or aowings@agcenter.lsu.edu.
