The company’s recent projects and innovations have focused on hydroponics. Growers Supply hydroponics systems have found success in the commercial lettuce and tomato industry, as well as with marijuana producers – although pretty much any crop not relying on soil, such as melons, aubergines, peppers and more, can be grown using hydroponics. Growers Supply works with companies of all sizes, all over the world, and they are always “striving to keep them ahead of the curve,” says Zachery Carr, a Greenhouse Specialist at the firm.

The use of hydroponics has had a sharp increase in popularity over the past three years, even tripling its presence in the U.S. These recirculating watering systems provide an ideal cultivation solution for those looking to grow local produce. The desire for self-sustaining households and communities has allowed local produce to take the market by storm, and hydroponics systems from Growers Supply enable growers everywhere, from inner cities to rural landscapes, to grow fresh, lush vegetables and plants.
The company recently launched an NFT Hydroponic System that can be used for a number of plants, most notably lettuce, but tomato producers also use this system as an alternative to conventional growing methods. Tomatoes have traditionally been cultivated in grow bags or Dutch buckets, “but our system delivers a much more uniform quantity and quality. What is most innovative is that it allows growers to recirculate the nutrient solution to achieve the highest degree of water and fertilizer efficiency.”

With all the water found in hydroponics systems, many systems experience problems with fungus and mould, and this has turned off many growers. “Ours prevents this from happening. Consequently, we manage to grow lettuce and basil with pearly white roots every time, and this is opening up whole new fresh markets, as plants can be sold with the root still intact and thus still living.”
A Growers Supply hydroponics system is easy to operate and maintain, and the system also makes it possible for roots to spread wide, as they are not confined to a bag or bucket. For example, the GT50 NFT channels are four inches wide and two inches deep, and are more effective for growing lettuce and herbs, like basil. The GT80 TSW channels are nine inches wide and four inches deep and are excellent for growing crops with large root systems, like tomatoes.

Growers Supply also offers propagation float stations that are intended to promote root growth before plants are transplanted to the channels, and, for those that don’t have the floor space for larger hydroponics systems, there are space-saving systems. “We are also designing vertical hydroponic systems, with which the production volumes per square foot can even quadruple,” says Carr.

Growers Supply is also able to provide custom-designed turnkey solutions to cover the needs of any client with a specific dream or goal. “We intend to create as many solutions as possible to make things easier for growers and meet every need a commercial producer may have,” concludes Carr.
