Horticulture expert John Stanley to speak at Farwest 2014:

US (OR): 'Emerging changes in horti industry leading to growth and increased sales'

John Stanley, renowned horticulture industry expert, will bring his insight and perspective to the 2014 Farwest Trade Show on August 21, when he delivers the keynote speech, followed on August 22 by a 3-hour retail workshop. His understanding of the dynamics that impact horticulture businesses will connect with all segments of the industry, from growers to retailers to landscapers. In advance of Farwest, Stanley will facilitate a 2 day New Vision Forum with Sid Raisch of Horticultural Advantage, August 20-21.

Stanley’s keynote address, Don’t Serve Me...Make My Day, sheds light on an industry that is changing rapidly. What has worked in the past will not work in the future as the whole structure evolves. His speech will focus on the issues that horticultural businesses needs to address in the coming months and years in order to grow sales. Attendance is free for all show registrants.

“Farwest offers value to almost every aspect of the green industry,” states Allan Niemi, Director of Events & Education at the Oregon Association of Nurseries, producers of the Farwest Trade Show. “We want to provide extra incentive for regional and national garden centres, growers and landscapers to join us at Farwest this year. John’s topic focuses on customer service to
drive sales—inspiration that will benefit everyone.”

Stanley will conduct a 3-hour workshop, Garden Retailing…Getting to 2020, highlighting key elements that can make a difference to garden retail. The workshop will look at how merchandising and display strategies in independent garden centres have to change in the next few years if the sector is to grow. The workshop is August 22.

Preliminary to his keynote address, Stanley will facilitate a 2-day New Vision Forum with Sid Raisch of Horticultural Advantage, August 20-21. The New Vision Forum is a travelling, intensive round-table event hosted by AmericanHort that explores new directions, trends, and technologies in garden retail. Participants will discover ways to meet emerging business challenges and master the possibilities presented by the new economy. Separate registration is required.
