Netherlands: 37th edition of Dutch ‘Come in the Greenhouse’ festival

For the 37th year, those wishing to learn more about greenhouse cultivation were given the opportunity to visit local horticultural companies. Some 200,000 visitors were recorded nationwide.

Cooking demonstrations
P8 (Colourfultaste) organized a cooking demonstration involving fresh peppers. Chefs prepared a delicious dish with peppers of different colours and tasteful chilli peppers. Visitors were able to taste raw peppers. There were huge rows of visitors eager to sample the dish.

RedStar Street
RedStar was among those opening its doors to the general public. Apart from showcasing the latest RedStar Tomatoes, the company allowed people a special peek behind the screens. Visitors were lining up for the RedStar Street, a special alleyway presenting the tasty tomatoes and the people behind them.

Greenhouses in IJsselmuiden were host to no fewer than 18,500 attendants. Wilbert van den Bosch, one of the organizers, called the event a huge success.

Cucumbergrower Theo Polman from Erica decided to meet with consumers to debate theissue of Spanish cucumbers in Dutch stores.

‘Visit Your Greenhouse’ is the largest public event of Dutch horticulture and is funded by Dutch Produce Association, FloraHolland, Harvest House, Interpolis and Rabobank.
