Investigating greenhouse storm damage by using drone

Damage to a greenhouse due to a storm or tornado is difficult to identify in practice. Counting broken windows can be tricky if you have to watch your step and your line of sight is obscured by pillars or crops. Appraisers and experts of insurance company Achmea entered into consultation with PINC Agro to explore what possibilities there were for a damage survey from the air. On Friday, February 21, a test was performed with a drone. To watch a movie of this test, see below.

Flying with drones is highly restricted due to privacy laws, making it rather hard to employ them in these cases. However, various agencies such as the fire brigade, are now advocating good legislation. If this legislation is coming, and the results of these tests are satisfactory, Pinc Agro might deploy this technique more often.
