Prominent Greenhouse Academy: Sharing horticultural knowledge internationally
Prominent is a growers association of tomato growers, located in the western part of The Netherlands. Established in 1994, the association now includes 35 greenhouse locations with a total of 260 hectares of tomatoes on the vine. This acreage represents 20 percent of the total vine tomato cultivation in The Netherlands.
The Prominent Greenhouse Academy was recently established. This unique initiative is intended to give international horticultural companies the opportunity to use the knowledge and expertise of the Prominent growers.
The objective is to teach other growers how to run a successful greenhouse company, by showing them first-hand how Prominent growers operate. Therefore most knowledge is shared within the greenhouses of Prominent. This is the fastest way to gain hands-on experience which can be used by the participants in their home country.
The Greenhouse Academy expands the activities of Prominent in global horticulture, because many international collaborations arise from this.
