Tasty strawberry Delizzimo (ABZ Seeds) for high class gastronomy

First Dutch strawberries harvested in Demo Nursery

It's now possible to harvest tasteful, Dutch strawberries from February. In the Demo Nursery Westland, the first production of the ABZ Seeds experiment was really successful. "This shows that it's possible to supply Dutch strawberries from February," says Gé Bentvelsen of ABZ Seeds. "They're delicious."

Less transportation time
ABZ Seeds wants to achieve the production of tasty, Dutch strawberries as long as possible. The production of Dutch strawberries saves three days of transportation time compared to the Spanish production. That's why it's possible to harvest riper and tastier varieties. Last year Demo Nursery Westland experimented with lighting on three different varieties of strawberries. The harvest started on February 22. Now the harvest is earlier in February and only the most tasteful variety is grown in the greenhouse: Delizzimo. "This variety keeps producing strawberries, so we can harvest until mid-June."

High class gastronomy
Because of the production price, Dutch strawberries are really high class. They're only supplied to professionals in the food-sector and to high class gastronomy.
