Argentina: New greenhouse for organic production constructed

Construction works have begun for a new organic greenhouse in the Southern Sector of the Argentinian province of Corrientes. Just like others in the area, the greenhouse has been publicly funded and will be equipped with a drop irrigation system. The goal of this project is to expand the production of the province's participants of the "Producers to Consumers" Fair, which takes place every Saturday morning in the market of Monte Caseros.

The program will be complete with the construction of ten greenhouses and will develop over the coming months. Every greenhouse constructed within the framework of this program is intended to promote an agro-sustainable agriculture that is free of agrochemicals and other toxic substances.

The new greenhouse will replace another one that was destroyed in a storm last December.

The greenhouses have an approximate size of 14 x 25 metres and will be delivered complete, with the irrigation system already built in, and respecting the regulations established by the Ministry as regards the quality of materials and the sanitary and safety measures.

In addition to the very important drop irrigation system, they will also be equipped with a ventilation system, semi-shade and 200 micron nylon, among other things.
