presented at Macfrut 2013

Italy: Greenhouse lettuce Domiziana and Graziana from Cora Seeds

This year Cora Seeda attended Macfrut once again. During the 2013 edition, it had an independent stand in the Ortogroup pavilion and took part in the Orto wic initiatives,a branch dedicated to seeds from Assosementi.

The market wants an alternative to the big multinationals, as can be seen from how many were interested in Cora Seeds. "This motivates us to be even more professional and supply a competitive range of products," says Maurizio Bacchi, General Manager of Cora Seeds.

Each year we make an effort to build the varieties that will be cultivated - onions, fennel, watermelons, tomatoes and peppers are only some of our products.

In addition to the research carried out at Cora Seeds, the company is also following a co-breeding project with Agrisem, its Dutch partner. They have created the first varieties resistant to fusariosis, which is a real problem in Italy. Maurizio Bacchi confirms that; "This enables us to take a major leap forward, and today Cora Seeds is one of the most active companies in the sector, and has been praised for the quality of the products originated by the joint research."

Two new greenhouse lettuce varieties were presented at Macfrut 2013: Domiziana and Graziana (AS 34035).

Domiziana
Early greenhouse lettuce for transplants between 10th September and 10th October and between mid-December until February. Medium volume, compact 400 g head.

Its bright dark green colour and spreading habit means it is ideal for the fresh market, supermarkets and exports. Resistant to Bremia lactucae 1-28 and it has a good tolerance to tip burn.

Graziana
Greenhouse medium-early head lettuce for transplants from 10th October to mid-December and good harvesting flexibility.

Graziana has a flat bottom and a heavy compact head weighing 400-500 grams. Ideal for the fresh market, industries, local markets and exports. Resistant to Bremia lactucae 1-28.
