Electric propulsion

"Italy: Hortech launches "Slide Eco"- the first zero emission harvester for greenhouses"

Among the new products presented at Macfrut 2013, the "Slide Eco" harvester from Hortech definitely deserves a mention.

Displayed in the company stand, it was very successful during the three days of the Fair. In fact, we are not talking about the an ordinary harvester for leaf vegetables, but rather about the first zero emission machine.

Designed specially to operate in greenhouses, Slide Eco is a 4x4 with an electric engine supplied by a battery that can generate 30 kW. Thanks to its ecological propeller, the machine can increase the added value of vegetables cultivated organically or with environmentally friendly methods.

The performance is remarkable. It has a 14 hour range, 19 km/h transfers, no vibrations and 45/47 degree steering, which makes manoeuvres in small spaces like greenhouses easier.

But the best results are those concerning recharge and batteries. The harvester can be connected to a normal 220 V home network thanks to the 10A cable supplied by Hortech. The battery is fully charged in three hours. In addition, if we consider that the average battery lasts 1,500 charging cycles, this is over four years of continuous work.

From the technological innovation point of view, Slide Eco completes the range of new products launched by Horthech in 2013. In fact, the company has already launched "Perfecta", the machine to prepare soil, and "Slide FW Small" (the evolution of the "Slide FW"), a propulsion harvester which is smaller than usual.

In occasion of the launch of Slide Eco, Luca Casotto, Hotech's Export Manager, explained the philosophy behind the new machine. "We felt it necessary to interpret technological innovation under a new perspective, because we believe that a company that wants to be innovative cannot only develop state-of-the-art processes. It should also consider the needs linked with the environment and the health of consumers. For this reason, Slide Eco represents a starting point for those looking towards the future."
