EU: Copa Cogeca thanks MEPs for positive vote on CAP reform deal
Copa-Cogeca thanked MEPs for approving today the political agreement struck by EU negotiators from the EU Commission, Council and Parliament on the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reform package and for their positive vote on the CAP transition rules to enable it to be introduced in 2014.
Copa-Cogeca Secretary-General Pekka Pesonen said “We have been working hard to get a final deal on the CAP wrapped up so that farmers and cooperatives know what lies ahead and can get on with their investment plans. Copa-Cogeca thanks European Parliament Agriculture Committee for their positive vote today on the final package and also on the CAP reform transitional arrangements. This will enable the new CAP to be introduced in 2014, with a transitional phase, and apply in full in 2015. The deal is now set to be formally endorsed by all MEPs at plenary session in October and EU Council in December.
