Jiffy is preparing lawsuit against Sri Lankan newspaper

"Jiffy Products Sri Lanka associated with the discharge of toxic waste"

According to the website srilankanmirror.lk, Jiffy Products Sri Lanka is discharging toxic waste into the Deduru Oya river in the Northern province of the country. The newspaper states that fish in the Deduru Oya have also died due to the chemicals released into the water. "Residents of the area say that a company named Jiffy Products Sri Lanka is using a chemical, calcium nitrate, to treat their coconut fiber products. It is alleged that this chemical is affecting ground water in the area", states the article.

Jiffy has responded to the situation towards HortiDaily.com by stating that the article in the newspaper is false. At this moment, the company is preparing a lawsuit against the Sri Lankan newspaper.
