Spain: Price eggplant beats record price of the last 10 seasons

In 2013, the Spanish eggplant beat the highest average price of the past 10 years, with €0.70 / kg, which is 70.73% more than the previous season, according to Hortoinfo, relaying information from the regional ministry of agriculture of Andalusia.

The Class I eggplant was sold this season for an average of 0.70 Euros per kilo, compared to 0.40 Euro in the 2011/2012 season. This is a growth of 75%.

The striped eggplant had an average price of 0.77 Euro / kg, which is an average growth of 32.75% compared to the previous season (0.58 Euro per kilo).

The round eggplant was sold at the end of the season for an average price of € 0.69 / kg, 15% more than the previous season (0.60 Euro per kilo).
