Canada: Pure Hot House grower expands its greenhouse operations
Pure Hot House Foods Inc. grower, Ernie Ingratta, is expanding his operating facilities by over 50% in acreage to accommodate for the increased demand for Juno® Bites, Luna Sweets®, Romas, and tomatoes on the vine, as well as to include new types such as cluster tomatoes. The new greenhouses will feature the latest growing technology, lower input costs, and an extended growing season. Instead of the normal growing season of lasting until November, the new greenhouses will extend it into January.
The growing operation began its expansion in early March 2013 and is expected to be completed by the following August. They will begin planting in mid-June and are expected to begin harvesting by the time the greenhouses are complete. This expansion is expected to produce an extra 120,000 pounds per week on top of their current production, as well as employ 16 new workers.
