Svensson examines production improvement for Spanish tomato growers

The efficiency of the tomato harvest in Almeria is high, but could be even better and provide higher profit for producers. Ifapa de La Mojonera, the Research and Training Institute for Agriculture and Fisheries in La Mojonera, has signed a contract with Ludvig Svensson with the aim of generating higher production of tomatoes with better quality thanks to a new technology of shading and ventilation.

It is expected that this new technology will yield even better quality, and production may increase by 30%, says Pilar Lorenzo, who is responsible for this project at Ifapa.

Because of the high efficiency, this new technology will also lead to a lower price per kilo.
