Rijk Zwaan: Checklist to prevent Fusarium in peppers

Unfortunately fusarium can been rearing its ugly head in pepper crops for several weeks now. Conditions have also been difficult in the Spring with widely varying outdoor conditions. Therefore, we’ve placed a checklist by Rijk Zwaan to prevent fusarium from now on:

  • Venting is now possible, but keep striving for a stable morning climate. Large temperaturefluctuations should be avoided.
  • Payattention to your ventilation settings. Be sure to ventilate on time (0.5 to 1C above the heating temperature) but we must also avoid cold air inside.
  • Avoid lowmoisture deficit at night. The use of the energy screen should be ceased bynow.
  • Prevent theEC from falling away. Continue to provide adequate nutrition and seek an EC inthe slab of at least 3.
  • Bevigilant, especially in the early morning hours. How cold is it outside? Howdoes it feel? The ideal computer setting for the prevention of fusarium isstill not found.
  • Keepworking on good industrial hygiene. Remove rotting fruits and leaves from thegreenhouse.
