10 hectare of Ultra Clima officialy opened:

"We now have the most modern greenhouse in the world"

The new Ultra Clima Greenhouse opened by RedStar last week, is one of the most modern greenhouses there is on the planet. Build by KUBO, the greenhouse will enhance a higher CO2 level inside the greenhouse so a higher yield can be achieved against 40% less energy input.

The new Ultra Clima greenhouse is 10 hectare in size and RedStar can expand the acreage at the Dinteloord location with another 20 hectare. The overall acreage of RedStar is more then 55 hectare in the Netherlands. Next to this the growers have partnerships with Thanet Earth in the UK and in Caulin, Spain.

A summary of the new greenhouse it's properties:

  • Inside the greenhouse, an overpressure is being created
  • There are less windows, to keep as much of the energy inside.
  • The windows are equipped with insect nets. This will enable RedStar to reduce the use of pesticides because no plagues can enter the greenhouse.
  • The crop is being lighted with Hortilux Son-T assimilation lights.
  • The greenhouse deck is equiped with Diffuse glass with anti reflection coating.
  • The greenhouse is 7.5 meter high to achieve an optimal constant climate.
  • Special screen system is installed to avoid light pollution.

During the opening weekend, all of the suppliers and constructors that where involved during the realization where present promoting their services in a small exhibition.
