René: "The first bunch in Grubbenvorst was too coarse, because we went back in temperature too quickly during cultivation. So next year we’ll bring up the temperature more. In America we have done just that and we have had no problems. We also plant 2.9 plants per square meter to prevent the tomatoes from becoming too rough too soon.”
Above expectations
Rene continues: "The lighted cultivation was better than expected. The quality is excellent and I think even more is possible. Tests results showed a plant density of 2.9, so that's ideal: the highest possible production with a lower average fruit weight.”“The trading community is positive about the Tourance," says Rene, "and also about the Winter Wonders brand. We should strive for a fixed price in advance. The market should be able to handle 50 hectares of a medium-sized tomato. The quality of a medium tomato is easier to achieve, and they give smoother bunches with a beautiful vine shape."
