Guernsey: Greenhouse destroyed by wind and snow

Simon Cowley and his father are one of the island's key potato growers. They were astounded to see the devastating impact which the recent severe weather had on one of their greenhouses. It should be home to freshly-planted new potatoes; instead it is a mound of shattered glass and broken panes. Simon Cowley says, "It's quite scary how it's all gone, you just think, what's going to happen to the rest of the greenhouses? The greenhouses have to pay for themselves and while they're lying on the floor in pieces they're not paying for themselves and you get this sinking feeling because if you do anything to them is it all going to be back on the floor again after the next bit of snow?"
