Russia: Production of greenhouse vegetables on the decrease

According to the consulting company Intesco Research Group, which published the study, "The Russian market of greenhouse enterprises. Current situation and outlook," for the period from 2009 to 2011 production of vegetables in greenhouses in Russia decreased by 3,7% (in terms of quantity - 219 tons).

71% of the crop is grown by private greenhouse farmers and only 29% by large agricultural enterprises. As before, the "priority" production are cucumbers and the largest region by number of greenhouses and the cultivation of vegetables in them is Republic of Bashkortostan.
