Mucci Farms, Kingsville, Ontario

Grower Herney Hernandez (middle) welcomed us at Mucci's tomato production site in Kingsville, Ontario. Mucci Farms owns 150 acres of greenhouses, and are responsible for the marketing of more than 400 acres of Ontario greenhouse product across North America.

This 15 acre greenhouse is part of a 30 acre expansion that was completed by Thermo Energy Systems in 2013. Both 15 acre greenhouses are used for the cultivation of tomatoes on the vine.

This is the other 15 acre greenhouse. Both greenhouses are connected with Metazet's Chain Track System. Full trolleys will be automatically sent to the processing area, while empty trolleys will be returned to the harvesting crew.

The rows are 100 meters. The crops grown are ; Rijk Zwaan's Endeavour and De Ruiter's Komeett. The crops are grafted on RZ Kaiser, RZ Bruce and De Ruiter's DRO141TX rootstocks. At the moment of our visit, the greenhouse with Endeavour was 1,5 kilo/m2 ahead in production.
