They are supplying the Chinese market for about 6 years now and according to Gonzalo, the tinted roses are the most demanded. "We started tinting roses 12 years ago, so we have good experience. On top of that, we have good relationships with our customers and they tell us what kind of colors they want." Gonzalo is pleased with the current number of customers they supply and he still see a lot of potential to grow.

Luis Cadavid of Flowers House Group started to export to China 5 years ago. He sees the potential of the country, but over the last years he has not seen the demand for imported increase that rapidly as expected. "The domestic production is improving and even thought the quality is not as high as that of the Ecuadorian roses, many still seem to choose for domestic due to the lower prices."

Mike Samilian and Richard de Quisada see the demand for peat moss increase every year. Lambert sells its products to China for about 5 years now and they also have an agent in Guangzhou. In China, they currently sale the basic products, but in the future, they expect to sell more specific products for specific crops.

"Initially, we had some challenges with the language barrier, but over the years, we established good relationships." In order to differentiate from the domestic production, which has improved and grown over the last years. Subati supplies different roses, shapes and color than the Chinese are used to. Last year, they opened their own sales office with technical support in Nanjing . According to Manuel, for the Chinese growers, it is now time to think about automatic solutions. "In several areas of the country, lobar costs are rising, so automatic processes becomes more interesting. The TM 1010F is interesting for the Chinese grower as many parts that are now being done manually are automated. It prepares the pots so that the young plants can be put in manually. The only manual labor is putting in the young plants. It can processes 4,000 pots per hour."

Sander Smeding of Anthura promoting the smaller sized anthurium and phalaenopsis. "For gifts, often a large plant with the typical colors - like a big red anthurium- are given. Now, the Chinese consumer needs to learn to buy plants for own use and then, we see a shift in demand towards the smaller products and in different colors. Also for the phalaenopsis, we try to introduce a 2 to 3 branched plant. Currently, the phalaenopsis market consists of cheaper 1- stemmed products. Arrangements are then made with more products."

Besides being colorful, the wall also shows the diversity of the Colombian flowers.  This at the pavilion they focused on showing the diversity of flowers that this country can offer.
