Fieldwork enters scale-up phase with £3 million funding

Fieldwork Robotics has raised £3 million in funding, including a £2.2 million investment round led by Elbow Beach, supported by existing investors. The company has also received £1.6 million in project grants, including the Innovate UK Farm ADOPT grant delivered in collaboration with Place UK and Littywood Farm.

The funding will support Fieldwork's transition from technology validation to commercial adoption of its autonomous harvesting robots. The company plans a two-year harvesting-as-a-service programme in Norfolk with Place UK and at Littywood Farm in Stafford. These trials will enable growers to evaluate operational requirements ahead of wider adoption. Fieldwork anticipates deploying multi-robot fleets on farms from 2027, with planned international trials in Portugal and Australia.

Elbow Beach contributed £1.45 million in follow-on funding, building on its £1.5 million seed investment in 2023, which supported development and validation of Fieldwork's robotics and AI technology.

David Fulton, CEO of Fieldwork Robotics, said the funding will accelerate scale-up and commercial deployment, allowing the company to demonstrate productivity gains, sustainable harvesting, and global expansion. Jon Pollock, CEO of Elbow Beach Capital, noted the investment reflects confidence in Fieldwork's technology and commercial strategy, addressing labour shortages and automation needs in the sector.
