A smart greenhouse for strawberry cultivation has been launched in the Yukorichirchik district of Uzbekistan. The project focuses on the introduction of advanced technologies and aims to increase yields while optimising resource use. The greenhouse system allows for remote control of production processes.
The facility was established on the site of a former greenhouse covering 1.5 hectares. Strawberries of the Firmmit variety, originally bred in South Korea, have been planted and adapted to local climatic conditions. The variety allows control over fruit size, with a focus on larger berries. The strawberries are planned for export to Russia and Kazakhstan.
According to Park Song Ki, the project uses hydroponic cultivation to ensure consistent fruit size and taste. "With hydroponics, uniform flavour and berry size are achieved through balanced plant nutrition. Water and fertiliser volumes are fully controlled, and the process is managed centrally via software," he said.
