Market prepared for new biofungicide

French biotechnology company Amoéba has received its first commercial order from Koppert, marking a significant step in the company's transition to a fully operational commercial business. The order follows a distribution agreement signed between the two companies in 2025.

Amoéba develops biological crop protection products under its subsidiary Green 4 Agro, which was established specifically to manage the company's biocontrol activities. The first product to reach the market is Axpera, a biofungicide.

First deliveries from the Koppert order are scheduled to begin in April 2026. Koppert will distribute the product to growers in viticulture and vegetable crops across 18 European countries and the United States.

Axpera is still awaiting final marketing authorisation in France, which is expected to accelerate approval processes in other countries. In the meantime, inventory is already being built up.

A gradual rollout
Martin Koppert, Commercial Director at Koppert, describes the start of the collaboration as highly encouraging. "Their biofungicide has truly unique properties and will offer professionals concrete, environmentally responsible solutions. We have chosen a gradual approach, focusing first on priority regions and crops before scaling up. The development of TIAGAN, our product for viticulture professionals, and its presentation in January, illustrates this approach perfectly and reflects the strong start to our collaboration."

With this order, Amoéba formally becomes a commercial enterprise. Its agricultural activities are now organised through its wholly owned subsidiary Green 4 Agro, which focuses on the commercialisation and further development of Amoéba's biofungicides and biostimulants.

Green 4 Agro has been led by Jean-Marc Petat since 1 March 2026. Petat previously served as a board member of Amoéba until 28 February 2026. He brings close to 30 years of experience in the agricultural sector and biocontrol, gained primarily within the BASF Group, one of the world's leading crop protection companies.

Petat says the first order confirms the potential of the partnership with Koppert. "The success of this first step is very encouraging for our future commercial development with Koppert. We are ready to meet the needs of growers and agricultural sectors that face increasingly stringent regulations, and who tell us every day that they are interested in our solution, in Europe and beyond."
