Cucumber prices have plummeted by 269% at Almeria auctions over the past month

The average auction price of the Almeria-type cucumber, also called the Dutch cucumber, has decreased dramatically in Almeria province, dropping by 269.09% over the past month.

Hortoinfo's analysis of the evolution of average daily vegetable prices at Almeria's auctions shows that this type of cucumber, the most widely produced and sold in the area's greenhouses, decreased from 2.03 euros per kilo on February 9th to 0.55 euros per kilo on March 10th, a nearly fourfold reduction.

The sales season for this cucumber started in September, with average prices around 0.50 euros per kilo, then dropped to 0.22 euros on the 23rd. After this dip, prices began to recover, reaching 1.23 euros per kilo on October 24. They then declined again to 0.63 euros on November 6, before sharply rising to the season's peak of 2.46 euros per kilo on December 5. The year ended with an average price of 1.72 euros on December 31, and after some fluctuations, prices reached 2.03 euros per kilo on February 9 before falling sharply to 0.55 euros per kilo on March 10, 2026.
