On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Germany's most modern greenhouse will open at the Schneebergerhof in Gerbach. The model project "Agrarvision Gewächshaus" (en.: Agricultural Vision Greenhouse) was developed on the family farm of energy transition pioneer Matthias Willenbacher. According to WiFood Center GmbH & Co. KG, there will be an open house on the opening day, where visitors can gain insights into growing vegetables with renewable energy.
Rhineland-Palatinate's Minister for Climate Protection Katrin Eder, Donnersberg District Administrator Rainer Guth, and Michael Cullmann, Mayor of the Nordpfälzer Land municipality, will also give welcoming speeches at the official opening. A high-tech greenhouse has been built on an area of around 3,500 square meters, with its energy supply based entirely on solar and wind power generated on site. Tomatoes, lettuce, and herbs are to be grown there all year round.
