Artechno Growsystems was declared bankrupt on Tuesday last week. The week before, the company filed for suspension of payments. At the time, a statement expressed the hope of securing the company's future by raising new financing.
"We are convinced that Artechno has a strong foundation: proven technology, an international market position, and concrete growth opportunities. With the right financial support, we can continue to build on innovation and sustainable growth", the team shared back then. "In recent years, Artechno has invested in the propagation and bioscience markets. Both markets have enormous potential and a clear future. The technology is there. The solutions are developed and proven. But now, as the market remains cautious about investing, we are facing a financial challenge. For an innovative SME like Artechno, this is a major blow that we cannot absorb alone."
Despite considerable market interest, time ultimately proved insufficient. Now that bankruptcy has been declared, the possibilities for a restart are being explored, Artechno announced Wednesday morning.
The company, headquartered in Maasdijk, specializes in turnkey systems for vertical farming. Aqualeap, a subsidiary of Artechno, was also declared bankrupt on Tuesday. Mr. S.M. de Wit from The Hague has been appointed as the bankruptcy trustee. The bankruptcies are registered under reference number: 09.dha.26.64.F.1306.1.26.
