New generation of sensors introduced

At HortiContact 2026 in the Netherlands, Sendot presented its latest generation of sensors, the Gen 2. The launch marks a further step in the company's development of smart monitoring technology for greenhouse horticulture.

At the stand, Sendot demonstrated solutions designed to help growers optimise greenhouse climate and crop performance. By delivering real-time data on oxygen levels, temperature, photosynthesis activity and PAR, the sensors aim to provide growers with directly applicable insights for day-to-day greenhouse management.

What the Gen 2 sensors offer

The new generation introduces a range of improvements and new capabilities. According to the company, the sensors provide direct insight into photosynthesis activity based on actual plant data, enable direct measurement of the light response curve, and allow intermediate steps in the photosynthesis process to be measured.

Data from the sensors is transmitted directly to the cloud for maximum flexibility. The design is more energy-efficient, with an extended battery life, and installation and operation have been simplified. The Gen 2 sensors also support optimisation of both lighting and climate, and can be integrated with multiple platforms and networks, including outdoor applications.

"With the new generation of sensors, we are making plant processes even more transparent for growers," says Bert van Tol of Sendot. "Our technology shows that smart sensor technology is not something for the future — it is already delivering concrete value in the greenhouse today."

With these developments, Sendot aims to support growers in making better-informed crop management decisions and further optimising their production processes.
