Spanish cucumber exports reach record volume in 2025, with Almería dominating shipments

Spanish cucumber exports reached historic highs in 2025, both in terms of volume and value, setting new national records while also marking a milestone for the province of Almería, which accounted for 72.42% of total shipments abroad and continues to consolidate its position as the leading hub of the sector.

These findings emerge from a report prepared by Hortoinfo based on data from Estacom, part of ICEX and the Spanish Tax Agency, corresponding to code 0707 of the Integrated Tariff of the European Communities (TARIC).

In volume terms, Spain exported a total of 766.28 million kg of cucumbers in 2025, an increase of 39.37% compared to 2011, when foreign sales stood at 547.46 million kg.

In value terms, exports generated revenue of €1,185.44 million, representing a 198.24% increase compared to fifteen years earlier. Both volume and turnover therefore reached the highest levels ever recorded.

The average export price stood at €1.55 per kg, which is 112.33% higher than the level recorded in 2011. Among the five main destinations, the United Kingdom paid the highest average price at €1.68 per kg, followed by the Netherlands at €1.58 per kg and Germany, the main buyer, at €1.53 per kg.

Germany accounted for 44.95% of all Spanish cucumber exports in 2025. The country purchased 344.48 million kg for a value of €525.87 million, at an average price of €1.53 per kg.

The United Kingdom ranked second, importing 100.37 million kg, equivalent to 13.1% of the total, for a value of €169.11 million and an average price of €1.68 per kg.

The Netherlands followed in third place with 64.1 million kg, representing 8.37% of the total, worth €101.57 million at an average price of €1.58 per kg.

France ranked fourth, with imports of 59.03 million kg valued at €79.49 million, at an average price of €1.35 per kg.

The Czech Republic completed the top five destinations after purchasing 31.76 million kg worth €41.11 million, with an average price of €1.29 per kg.

At the provincial level, Almería once again led the ranking with 554.93 million kg exported in 2025, generating €835.99 million. These figures represent a new historic record for the province. The average selling price stood at €1.51 per kg.

Granada ranked second with 72.11 million kg, accounting for 9.41% of the total, worth €113.74 million at an average price of €1.58 per kg.
