De Ceuster Meststoffen NV (DCM), producer of organic and organo-mineral fertilisers, has published its first comprehensive ESG report, providing clear insight into the company's performance, ambitions and forward-looking initiatives in the areas of Environmental, Social & Governance. DCM has chosen to align its ESG reporting with the European sustainability reporting standards, even though this is not yet a legal requirement for the company.
Care for nature and people at the forefront
Since its founding in 1976, sustainability has been a fundamental pillar of DCM's company philosophy. For the first time, this report brings together all relevant sustainability indicators and explains how the company is working to reduce its ecological footprint, create safer and more people-centred workplaces and ensure transparent and ethical business practices.
"Nature needs care, and that is exactly what drives us every single day," says Kris De Temmerman, Managing Director DCM. "With this first ESG report, we are taking an important step towards greater transparency. It shows where we stand today, the progress we are making, and the areas where we aim to further improve."
Environmental: innovation to reduce impact
DCM has been investing in circular processes and sustainable technologies for many years. Today, 75% of the raw materials used consist of circular materials sourced from by-product streams of the food industry. The company also continuously works to improve the efficiency of its energy and water use, while developing product innovations that support soil health and biodiversity.

DCM also holds the Taking Climate Action label, an independent certification confirming that the company thoroughly measures its CO₂ emissions, actively reduces them, and offsets the remaining emissions. As a next step, DCM aims to expand this approach by including the CO₂ emissions of its suppliers in its reporting, the so-called scope 3 emissions.
Social: safety, well-being and responsibility
DCM places a strong focus on a safe working environment, training opportunities and the development of its employees. Well-being is also a key priority, with particular attention to both the physical and mental health of employees, as well as a healthy work-life balance.

Governance: transparency and responsible business practices
Transparency, ethics and sustainable partnerships form the foundation of DCM's governance policy. The company consciously opts for clear decision‑making processes, open communication, and responsible entrepreneurship, ensuring that stakeholders understand what DCM stands for and the choices it makes. In addition, DCM collaborates long-term with partners who share the same values, focusing on quality, integrity and future-oriented growth.
"For us, sustainability is a journey of continuous progress," Kris continues. "This report helps us to make our progress measurable and allows us to work together with our partners and customers to build a future-proof sector."
