Indian University to host three-day vegetable research program for scientists, growers

An all-India Coordinated Research Project annual group meeting on vegetable crops will be held at the Vegetable Research Station in Rajendranagar here from February 20 to 22. The three-day programme being conducted under the aegis of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University (SKLTHU) will discuss the results of field-tested open-pollinated varieties and hybrid varieties already developed in vegetables.

The event will also discuss details of best practices in seed production, collection, evaluation, conservation and use of germplasm in variety development, modern vegetable production research on vegetable crops, as well as new innovations in research on varieties that withstand biotic and abiotic stresses, pest and disease management.

A special interactive meeting with vegetable-growing farmers and scientists to answer farmers' questions and explain new research topics in vegetables is scheduled for April 22, said Dr Raji Reddy, Vice Chancellor SKLTHU.

Experts from leading seed companies and seed representatives of the Central government, and scientists from research institutions and universities will also attend the event.
