Israel: New R&D field for berries open for visitors

Mei Ami Quality Plants has invited growers, breeders, entrepreneurs, and genetics partners to visit its newly established R&D field for blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.

Located in Moshav Mi Ami, surrounded by forest and the landscape of the Shomron hills, the one-hectare site is fully dedicated to evaluating and adapting berry varieties under Mediterranean conditions.

"The field enables direct comparison of different cultivars, planting densities, growing systems and trellising methods, as well as performance across seasonal cycles," explains company CEO Uriel Ben-Haim.

All production is conducted in tunnels, allowing year-round cultivation. The site is equipped with advanced fertigation, irrigation, and climate control systems to ensure precise and consistent evaluation.

"Our objective is to generate reliable, field-driven insights on varietal performance in a demanding climate environment," Uriel continues. "We welcome local growers, international breeders exploring this market, and existing genetics suppliers to visit and review performance results firsthand."
