Construction of the country's largest industrial greenhouse complex is underway in the Aktobe rural district of Keles district, Turkistan region. The project covers 51 ha and is being developed by Ecoculture-Eurasia LLP.
The greenhouse will produce up to 25,000 t of tomatoes per year and is expected to create around 800 permanent jobs after full commissioning. Total investment in the project amounts to KZT 42 bn, with financing approved by the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. In 2023, KZT 23.5 bn was allocated for the project.
According to the regional authorities, all necessary infrastructure has been connected. The greenhouse complex is fully equipped with technology supplied from the Netherlands. To date, greenhouse steel structures have been installed on 40 ha, external and internal utility networks have been completed, and construction continues on administrative buildings, warehouses, and a checkpoint. The boiler house and reserve fuel storage have already been completed, while eight greenhouse blocks and a technical corridor are being installed, with four blocks already operational. The official opening is scheduled for spring.
The project developer plans to gradually expand the greenhouse area to 500 ha. In parallel, a small industrial park is being developed in the Keles district, creating opportunities for packaging, processing, and canning facilities, which could reduce logistics costs and support small and medium-sized businesses.
In 2025, the total greenhouse area in the Turkistan region increased by 75 ha to 1,715 ha, accounting for 76% of Kazakhstan's greenhouse sector. During the year, regional greenhouses produced over 150,000 t of vegetables, as well as 550 t of bananas, 3,200 t of lemons, and 13,000 t of strawberries.
