Blueberry productivity and quality: the agenda for the coming season

Lima will host, on March 11 and 12, the XXXIX International Blueberries Seminar – Lima 2026, the first milestone of the 2026 world tour. The country's most important blueberry seminar brings together technical conferences, a complementary hall, a commercial exhibition area and a technical field tour designed to compare production in pots and in soil, review critical protocols and return with a concrete action plan.

Lima, the meeting point that opens the 2026 tour
Peru has consolidated its position as a regional blueberry benchmark, and Lima will open the 2026 tour before it continues to Chile, Mexico, Morocco and China. The event brings together growers, exporters and receivers; nurseries and genetics companies; suppliers of irrigation, substrates, nutrition and postharvest solutions; packaging and logistics companies; as well as technology services, researchers and advisors.

The proposal combines technical evidence, demonstrations and business spaces, allowing each team to compare criteria, validate solutions and turn them into measurable decisions in the field and in the market, explain Blueberries Consulting.

Business, networking and an international community
With attendees from more than 25 nationalities, the commercial area functions as a B2B hub, enabling live demonstrations, executive meetings and sustained visibility for sponsors and exhibitors. The B2B round experience has connected postharvest, packaging, irrigation and analytics companies with decision makers, integrating the value chain and strengthening technical collaboration.

Technical tour: decisions made in the field
The Peru 2026 Technical Tour is part of the Continuing Education Certificate jointly delivered by the University of Almería and Blueberries Consulting. It includes six hours in the field within a programme that totals eleven online hours and nine in person hours during the seminar. Along the route, host technical teams guide comparative observation of management in pots and in soil, helping participants turn what they see into verifiable tasks ready to be implemented.

The XXXIX International Blueberries Seminar – Lima 2026 builds on this learning. Through conferences, panels and the commercial area, criteria are refined, cases are contrasted and agreements with suppliers are finalised. In this way, the training pathway is articulated end to end, online, field and seminar, with an academically accredited certificate that supports professional updating and provides curricular traceability for the implementation plan.

Program: applied science and comparability
The program brings together specialists with recognized technical, scientific and business experience, with participation from key producing and consuming countries such as Peru, Chile, Mexico, the United States, Spain and Australia. The curation prioritises comparable results and applied case studies, ensuring a useful dialogue between academia, production, postharvest and the market. This mix raises the quality of discussions and helps each attendee take home actionable criteria suited to their own production and commercial reality.

The Main Hall will host technical and commercial presentations with Q&A sessions, prioritizing measurable criteria for decision making. In parallel, the Complementary Hall will focus on R&D, nutrition and biostimulation, with application guidelines and clear metrics to translate evidence into daily management.

  • Market and strategy (Wednesday 11, morning): Trade flows and consumption habits; evolution of Peru's productive matrix; price dynamics as a value driver. A logistics panel will analyse how efficiency from origin is redefining costs and competitiveness. A market overview will update the global map and strategies for the coming cycles.

  • Physiology, nutrition and prediction (Wednesday 11, afternoon): Floral induction and differentiation mechanisms; variety driven nutrition for new genetics; yield prediction based on artificial intelligence. The session closes with the panel "Firmness engineering", integrating nutrition, irrigation and postharvest tools to supply long distance markets without sacrificing quality. In addition, a recognition will be awarded for excellence and contribution to the global blueberry industry, highlighting the trajectory and impact of sector leaders.

  • Plant health, control and quality (Thursday 12): Quantification of the impact of foliar pathogens on yield and quality; tools for nutrition and plant health control in pot production; and a strategic solution to improve harvest management and quality.

The event will close with a panel adopting a systemic approach to reduce losses and maximize quality throughout the entire chain, up to the final consumer.
