Greenhouse-grown produce has never been more in demand at retail, industry experts say.
"Consumers value the consistency, food safety, and reliable flavor that controlled environment growing provides," said Sonia Klinger, marketing manager for DelFrescoPure. "As weather-driven variability increases, shoppers appreciate knowing they'll get the same great quality every time."
That's translated, she said, into greenhouse-grown becoming a standout category on retail shelves. On the product side, DelFrescoPure is anticipating strong growth in its snacking categories, especially mini cucumbers, cherry tomato on the vine and specialty peppers.
"Consumer demand for fresh, convenient options continues to surge, and our ability to grow consistently high-flavor products year-round — something we've honed over 70 years — positions us well to meet that demand," Klinger said.
