The Mersin Metropolitan Municipality continues to back greenhouse growers to boost efficiency and lower input costs.
Growers involved in greenhouse production in the Akdeniz district were supplied with sticky traps and greenhouse twine by the Agricultural Services Department. Up to now, the Metropolitan Municipality has supplied a total of 209,250 kg of greenhouse twine to 13,950 producers and 5,800 blue and yellow sticky traps to the same number of growers. Growers who received support indicated that the assistance has significantly alleviated their burden amid increasing input costs. Fatma Karatas, an agricultural technician at the Municipality's Department of Agricultural Services, mentioned that greenhouse twine was supplied to growers to promote healthy and uniform plant growth under cover, and blue and yellow sticky traps were provided to aid in pest control. Karatas stated, "We offer various forms of assistance to lower production costs, enhance efficiency, and guarantee that growers have a more robust season. These supports aim to bolster greenhouse cultivation, promote sustainable production, and alleviate the burden on producers."
Isa Sakar, local leader of the Limonlu neighborhood in Adanalioglu, highlighted the significance of the area for greenhouse farming by stating, "The Metropolitan Municipality is fulfilling a major need by offering producers greenhouse twine and sticky trap assistance. This kind of backing for farmers is unprecedented from the local government. Our mayor has backed each area with distinct initiatives since he assumed office. I hope he keeps contributing, as everyone is very pleased. Due to the support of the Metropolitan Municipality for farmers, citizens are quite pleased."
