Technonicol has begun exporting greenhouse substrates produced at the corporation's plant in Krasny Sulin in the Rostov region to Saudi Arabia, the press service of the region's Investment Development Agency (IDA) said.
The first batch of products included mineral wool cubes intended for germinating tomato seedlings in greenhouses, the press service said. The enterprise's products were delivered by sea from the port of Novorossiysk to the port of Jeddah via the Bosporus and the Suez Canal.
"Industrial products are one of the locomotives of the Don's exports, and the Middle East is one of the priority export directions for us. Technonicol plans to increase the amount and range of export supplies from its Don plants to countries in the Middle East region. In addition to Saudi Arabia, products from the greenhouse substrate plant are already being exported to Iran," the press service quoted IDA General Director Igor Burakov as saying.
Currently, two of the corporation's plants operate in the Rostov region - a stone wool production facility and a greenhouse substrates production facility.
The stone wool plant annually produces 1.7 million cubic meters of products for residential, industrial, public and administrative buildings, as well as for technical insulation. Materials are supplied to the Volga, Northwestern, North Caucasian, Central and Southern Federal Districts.
The substrate production enterprise manufactures 160,000 cubic meters of vegetative mats, seed germination plugs and seedling cubes per year. They are used by greenhouses specializing in low-volume hydroponic technology. Shipments are made to the Volga and Southern Federal Districts, as well as for export to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, China and Saudi Arabia.
