This should have been the greenhouse that the farming couple from Samatica, Berat, would be proud of. But instead of producing, this time they will be taking the mud brought by the Seman River.
"This tomato is no longer grown, it's finished as a tomato," said a farmer. But this is not the first flood, as within two months the same greenhouse has been flooded 3 times and according to them, the weather is not always to blame.
"We are not being punished by God, but by man, I say this because they released the dams. This is no longer happening, they have been drinking water all night," said farmer Sokol Çela. Sokoli has been involved in agriculture for over 3 decades, he says that after many years he took the trouble to expand the planted area by taking out a 35 thousand euro loan. But the new greenhouse this season seems not to yield a single kg of tomatoes.
"I have 4 acres of greenhouses and I took out a loan and the first installment is 1 million 450 thousand ," the farmer told "TCH". "The river came out three times, three times here in the greenhouse, where am I going now, I only went to my land to work. What should I do now? March 10th is coming and the bank wants my money. If the state gives it to me, I will wash it, if it doesn't give it to me... I will do something."
