A new greenhouse in Petropavlovsk has started producing cucumbers, collecting up to 6 tonnes daily. Once operating at full capacity, harvests are expected to reach 16 tonnes per day, according to the regional administration.
The facility is designed to supply around 3,000 tonnes of tomatoes, cucumbers, and salad greens annually. Local consumption norms indicate that the North Kazakhstan region requires about 50 tonnes of cucumbers per day, meaning the new greenhouse could meet up to 30% of regional demand and help stabilize prices during the winter season.
The project, implemented by Green North LLP, received a total investment of 1.4 billion tenge, complemented by a 5.8 billion tenge preferential loan from SPC "Soltustik." State support also included the development of engineering networks for the facility.
Equipped with modern Dutch technology, the greenhouse operates under a controlled microclimate managed by computer systems, ensuring consistent quality and yield. Specialists note that the new greenhouse allows fresh vegetables to be available year-round and at more competitive prices compared to imports.
The first produce has already reached local supermarket shelves, marking the start of a project expected to enhance food security and provide a reliable supply of fresh vegetables for the northern region.
