The failure to pay wages for more than 3 weeks has led to a work stoppage by employees at greenhouse company RISING FARMS, located in the La Noria area of Ejido, within the municipality of Ciudad Fernández. The situation has caused unrest among workers and economic hardship for dozens of families in the region.
According to employees, the delayed payments have made it difficult to cover basic expenses such as food, transport and utilities. This lack of income ultimately resulted in the suspension of activities, following the absence of a clear response from the company.
The State Secretariat of Labour and Social Welfare confirmed that the labour dispute has been addressed and that verification procedures have been launched in coordination with the State Attorney General's Office, with the aim of ensuring respect for labour rights and determining potential responsibilities.
During an inspection carried out on Saturday 10 January, authorities confirmed that the company's facilities were without administrative or operational staff. Productive activities and worker transportation had also been suspended since the previous day.
Amid the conflict, the legal representatives of RISING FARMS submitted a commitment to partially cover the outstanding wages and progressively regularize payments. The company cited financial difficulties and a drop in production that had negatively affected its cash flow.
