Uzbekistan sets up office to boost greenhouse exports

Uzbekistan has taken a new step to boost its agricultural exports by establishing a dedicated project office to develop the greenhouse sector. The new government-affiliated structure will coordinate the development of a comprehensive program aimed at improving the efficiency of greenhouse farms and expanding their export potential, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The project office will operate under the Cabinet Secretariat for investment, exports, trade, agriculture and water resources. The office will consist of six staff members, including its head, and will be responsible for drafting requirements and technical guidelines for the future program, as well as collecting and analyzing recommendations from international organizations, financial institutions and consulting companies involved in the greenhouse industry.

Its mandate also includes implementing initiatives based on international best practices and identifying key challenges facing the sector, with a focus on defining priorities for reform.

The creation of the project office is envisaged by a presidential decree issued in October 2025, aimed at increasing the efficiency of greenhouse operations and boosting exports of greenhouse-grown agricultural products. The decree sets ambitious targets to raise exports to $3.5 billion this year and $4 billion next year.
