Swiss agritech company Techponics has announced the launch of a new commercial greenhouse project in Kuwait. The project is being implemented in partnership with Green Life Company, a CEA operator in the Gulf region, and will deploy Techponics' automated crop production system for leafy greens under extreme climatic conditions.

Louis Belloin, Founder and CEO of Techponics shares that the system is designed to maximize space utilization, stabilize production flow, and improve predictability of output, making it particularly relevant for regions where land, water, and climate conditions impose structural constraints on agricultural production.
According to him, the Kuwait project represents both a technical validation and a commercial milestone. "Their confidence in our dynamic spacing system validates its performance, and this scale project is important for our commercial expansion."
Addressing extreme climate conditions through system and partnership design
Operating greenhouses in Kuwait requires careful management of extreme heat, humidity fluctuations, and plant stress, all of which directly affect crop consistency and quality. Rather than redesigning its production system for the region, Techponics focused on aligning its automation platform with locally defined climate strategies.
"The main challenge is managing extreme heat while maintaining stable growing conditions," Louis explains. "In Kuwait, the focus is on creating a robust greenhouse environment and reinforcing close collaboration between the grower — who knows the local climate — and Techponics — who masters the production system."
This division of expertise allows Techponics to concentrate on what it considers its core value proposition: optimizing crop density, water efficiency, and production flow through automation. Climate control, energy management, and infrastructure choices are defined by the grower based on local constraints and opportunities. Louis notes that this approach ensures temperature, humidity, and plant stress are managed coherently, without compromising crop quality or system performance.
"The system itself required no fundamental redesign. Its value lies in being adaptable to different climate strategies chosen by the grower."

Dynamic spacing as a commercial differentiator
Dynamic spacing remains the defining technological feature of the Techponics platform. By automatically adjusting plant spacing throughout the growth cycle, the system enables higher average crop density while maintaining uniformity and predictable harvest timing. Louis shares it was this capability that was the decisive factor in securing Green Life Company's commitment to the project and demonstrates growing market demand for production systems that combine automation with operational simplicity.
"Our technology remains particularly suited to leafy greens, a segment characterized by diverse varieties, short cycles, and tight margins. The leafy greens production is a sum of niches. The added value of our Techponics system is that we can address many of those niches."
Beyond mechanical automation, the company integrates artificial intelligence layers into its platform to support both operational and strategic decision-making. Data generated by the system can be used to anticipate production outcomes, fine-tune cultivation parameters, and continuously improve performance over time.
"The Kuwait project follows successful deployments in Europe and we believe it signals a broader international strategy focused on regions facing water scarcity, climatic extremes, food import dependency, and limited availability of skilled labor for CEA operations. Growers are increasingly seeking systems that simplify production without sacrificing productivity."
Founded in 2021, Green Life Company operates greenhouse facilities in Kuwait with the objective of providing year-round production of fresh, pesticide-free leafy greens.
Louis shares that the Green Life Company has also achieved GLOBALG.A.P. Fruit and Vegetables certification for lettuce, becoming the first farm in Kuwait to reach this standard.
