In response to climate variability, Ukrainian farmers increasingly adopt protected cultivation. Heatwaves, droughts, water scarcity, and late frosts have made irrigation systems a standard requirement for maintaining yield stability in horticulture and berry production.
Eucalypt R, a company active in Ukrainian irrigation for over twenty years, has expanded into turnkey greenhouse solutions. The new offering includes both the structural components and integrated systems for irrigation, fertigation, and environmental control.
The greenhouse frames are produced by Polish manufacturer Progress Engineering, which fabricates all metal elements in-house. Unlike typical local suppliers, this ensures consistent steel thickness and strength, addressing challenges such as high winds and snow loads that are increasingly frequent in Ukraine.
Three main greenhouse types are available: single-span tunnels, block tunnels, and small-scale farm greenhouses.
Additional equipment includes automated roof and side ventilation, and irrigation systems with fertigation capabilities. The design allows for individual customization of dimensions, unlike standardized local solutions, providing flexibility for various crops and farm layouts.
Current demand in Ukraine is highest for block greenhouses around 1.6 hectares, a size aligned with state grant programs. Financial support includes up to 80% cost reimbursement for facilities in war-affected regions or with significant land under occupation. Standard grants cover 50% of project costs, with a cap of 400,000 UAH per hectare. Early inquiries indicate interest primarily from berry producers, including strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry farms.
Installation in Ukraine has not yet commenced. Eucalypt R completed training in Czechia on a 3.4-hectare strawberry facility and is finalizing technical preparation. Plans to begin domestic deployment are scheduled for later this year, with initial commercial proposals prepared for farms in central and western Ukraine, as well as inquiries from Kharkiv and Mykolaiv.
