Tomato production underway in a 2.5-hectare hydroponic greenhouse in Konya, Turkey

Duran Secen, the Konya Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, conducted a visit to assess a heated, 25,000 m² soilless tomato farming greenhouse located in the Meram district. Company representatives provided Provincial Director Secen with comprehensive insights into the production processes occurring within the greenhouse.

The inspection of the greenhouse, which employs modern cultivation techniques, involved a review of productivity, plant health, climate control systems, and sustainable production models. Soilless farming, which involves growing plants in special nutrient solutions instead of soil, optimizes water use and provides advantages in production against diseases and pests. The drought and water scarcity experienced in Konya make this method a critical point in the city's agricultural strategy.

Konya aims to both increase domestic production and strengthen sustainability in agriculture by focusing on exports with this modern agricultural initiative. This exemplary facility in Meram demonstrates that Konya can achieve high-yield production by efficiently utilizing its water resources and is leading the way in increasing soilless farming areas in the city.
